Volunteer Opportunities
Early Learning Alliance for Carroll County
If you are a current or former educator, administrator, staff member, or family-service professional, we warmly invite you to join the Early Learning Alliance for Carroll County. The Early Learning Alliance is a community partner of Childrens Garden, formed to address the needs of children, parents, and educators both inside our center and throughout the community.
Grandfriends
Grandfriends are retired or semi-retired men and women who share their time, talents, and care with our school community. Grandfriends might read a Bible story, play an instrument, tend a garden bed, help with morning greetings, share a craft, or bring a seasonal treat for our teachers’ lounge. Others lend a hand with hospitality, simple beautification projects, or those thoughtful touches that make a space feel welcoming and well-kept. These small, recurring commitments bring a steady rhythm to our classrooms and helps nurture the warm, faith-filled environment that makes Childrens Garden so special.
High School Work/Study Volunteers
We love welcoming high school students who want to learn, serve, and grow in responsibility. Our Work/Study volunteer roles offer a structured way for students to support classrooms while gaining real experience in early childhood settings.
Students may help prepare materials, assist teachers with classroom routines, support play-based learning activities, read with children, or help with organization and seasonal projects. This program is a great fit for students exploring education, childcare, ministry, or service-oriented careers.
Substitute Teachers
Our substitute teachers help keep classrooms consistent when regular staff members are out. Because early childhood learning depends on calm routines and close supervision, we look for subs who are experienced in early childhood care and aligned with our center’s standards.
Preferred qualifications: Experience working with young children (early childhood setting), and/or relevant credentials such as CDA, ECE coursework, a teaching license, or comparable childcare experience.
Required: Background check, basic training and orientation (supervision, health/safety practices, early childhood guidelines), and CPR/First Aid training (or willingness to complete).
