Frequently Asked Questions
-
You’ll sign your child in using the Brightwheel kiosk, and accompany your child to the classroom. We ask that you connect briefly with the teacher at arrival—this is the best moment to share anything we should know about your child’s morning or schedule. Then help your child wash hands before they jump into play.
We encourage a quick and consistent drop-off routine to help children with the separation. Many children calm quickly once their parent leaves, even if they seem very upset at drop-off! You’ll get updates quickly after drop-off to let you know how your child is doing.
-
If your child is eating breakfast at school, please plan to arrive by 8:30 AM, otherwise we allow flexible drop off and pick up times that work for your family.
-
We’re flexible, but we do discourage drop-off/pick-up during rest time (12:15–2:30 PM) because it can disrupt the whole room. Also, children shouldn’t be dropped off earlier than 5 minutes before their enrollment time (or it may trigger a fee like late pick-up). For any change in your regular drop-off or pick-up time, we ask that you communicate with us through brightwheel!
-
Brightwheel is our main hub for everything from messaging to daily activity reports and billing. We also send home some physical notes and we encourage conversation with your child’s teacher! You’re always welcome to reach out, and we aim for positive two-way communication as a true partnership. We believe the family is a child’s first teacher and the experts on their child, and we partner closely with our families to best support our students.
-
Please sign your child out at the Brightwheel kiosk and head to your child’s classroom to collect your child. Please connect with your child’s teacher quickly before you leave! It keeps everyone safe and helps us close the loop on the day.
-
We get it—life happens. If you think you’ll be late, message your child’s teacher in Brightwheel as soon as you can. There’s a 5-minute grace period, and then the late fee is $5 per 5 minutes. Habitual late pick-ups may require a meeting with the Executive Director.
-
Yes—as long as they’re authorized. We only release children to parents/guardians or the adults listed on the Enrollment Application. If you need to add someone, send the request via email or Brightwheel message. For one time pick ups, you can send a written notice that someone else will be picking up today, but the permission will only be valid for one time. All unfamiliar people are required to show ID to verify their identity.
-
Yes. We schedule conferences in the fall, and they’re encouraged (even for our youngest children). Conferences include a written report of strengths and areas for growth, and you’re welcome to request an update anytime.
-
Please message your child’s teacher in Brightwheel if you know you’ll be out. If your child is unexpectedly absent and we haven’t heard from you, a staff member may check in just to make sure everything’s okay.
In order to continue to provide safe and quality care, retain qualified staff with appropriate pay and benefits, and hold your child’s spot in the classroom, tuition is a flat rate charge and not based on attendance.
-
We provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks, along with classroom learning materials, toys, and sanitizable cots for rest time (each child also has a cubby/hook for belongings). Please send your child in comfortable, washable play clothes and safe play shoes (rubber-soled with a closed heel or heel strap), plus weather-appropriate outerwear as needed. If your child is in diapers or potty training, please send an ongoing supply of diapers/wipes and extra clothes, and label everything. Infants should come with premixed, labeled bottles of formula or properly labeled breastmilk for the day. Because of licensing, children generally cannot bring food from home (special dietary needs can be accommodated with the proper documentation).
-
We aim to make transitions smooth and supportive. When a move is coming, we consider your child’s development and readiness, along with space availability, and we’ll send you a message when it’s time. Your child’s current teacher will also share helpful notes with the new teacher (strengths, growth areas, and strategies that work). If you’d like a conference focused on the transition, you can request one.

Yes—we love celebrating! If you’d like to send a treat, it needs to be commercially packaged with an ingredient label so we can protect children with allergies or dietary restrictions. Please don’t send candy or small treats that could be a choking hazard. If you’re unsure what works best, check in with your child’s teacher ahead of time so they can plan with you.
